Dear Friends,

What do Eti Ankari, Evyatar Banai, Shuli Rand, and Meir Ariel have in common?

They were all major musical stars in Israel who found religion later in life and it transformed their music. 

Music with spiritual themes, building on millenia of Jewish poetry and musical traditions from around the Jewish world, has been topping the mainstream charts in Israel for years.

Tomorrow, we will begin to explore this phenomenon by listening to their music, discussing the lyrics, and talking about the Israel they represent.

Our first class will be examining songs by Yonatan Razel, Meir Banai, Evyatar Banai, and Eti Ankari.
