A cease fire was declared between Israel and Hamas yesterday. We can all sleep better.
However, it has been a challenging ten days that has rattled many of us.
The political discourse in our media and on social media was more extreme than it has been for a very long time.
Yet, even as Israeli Arabs and Israeli Jews fought in the streets, there were also positive stories. Clickhere and here.
I also received a video from Rabbah Tamar Applebaum, a leading Conservative/ Masorti Rabbi in Israel about an interfaith evening for peace that she co-led in Jerusalem several days before the conflict began, singing Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach’s “To all my brothers and friends.” Please click here to view it.
Even as we despair for the future, we can take hope and find faith that there are also great powers of goodness and peace at work in this situation.
Please join us for Bari Weiss this Sunday evening, and Yossi Klein Halevi next Sunday morning. To attend the Bari Weiss presentation you must register (click here).
There is a "Walk For Israel" march on Sunday in Naperville 11am - 2pm, Naperville City Hall, 400 South Eagle Street.
I wish you a peaceful Shabbat,
