Summary
Dear Friends,
As the days and weeks pass since October 7th, that horrific tragedy is still sinking into our communal Jewish consciousness. Every time I speak with Israelis, the unthinkable situation that Israel is in comes rushing back - an entire nation in a state of readiness, of trauma, of fear, of pain and mourning, an entire nation in a state of preparedness to support the war effort. At the same time, in the Diaspora we are seeing an unprecedented global surge of violent antisemitism. The situation is frightening. Yet, even with these challenges we must hold on to hope. Last night we got one glimpse of that hope. It was revealed that during a ground incursion, the IDF found and released a captive soldier taken on October 7th. May there be – with God’s help - many more in the coming days!
It is important to gather and be together in these times. This Wednesday at 5:30pm, we will come together in the chapel in an informal setting to sing, to discuss, to share, and connect with Israel and each other.
Sincerely,
